2025 Calendar

Throughout the year, we offer a variety of social events and opportunities for residents in Area I to connect with each other and embrace the Youbou experience. Sometimes we partner with other agencies, such as the Cowichan Valley Regional District.

  • April 12

    Broom Bust

Join us at Mile 77 park. Bring some loppers and some gloves. YCA will provide hot dogs and drinks. 9:30am to 12:30pm.

  • May 3

    Life's a beach party

Welcome back the sun and Youbou-style summer fun, with a night of catchy tunes from around the islands. Pozitive Rebellion and the Rowdy Boys set the don’t-worry-be-happy vibe with some reggae notes, a little Latin beat, and time to waste away in Margaritaville.

  • May 24

    Community Garage Sale

Dust off your treasures for the pickers who peruse our network of garage sales. Or, come ready to discover a perfect jewel for yourself. We provide a map of participating homeowners and you do the rest.

  • May 31

    Area i clean up

If you have garage sale leftovers or items beyond their useful life, tote them to Meade CreekRecycling Centre when the YCA is offering our once-a-year deal on tipping fees for Area i residents.

    Date to be confirmed shortly!

Grab a plate and sample some of the finest local crab around, along with all the fixin’s. Be sure to buy your ticket to this event early.

    Youbou Regatta, Breakfast and Parade

Load up at the fire station for breakfast, then join us for The World’s Shortest Parade, including the YCA float. As the regatta heats up with swimming races, chalk art contest, watermelon eating frenzy, and belly flop competition, visit our YCA booth to see how you can join the fun in Youbou.

    Witches Paddle

Bubble, bubble, toil and trouble! Broom’s up for our annual Witch’s Paddle at Arbutus Park, organized by Intention Wellness Space with help from your YCA. Your vessel may be a stand-up paddle board, a kayak, or a canoe, as long as it floats. Prizes for best costume and paddle-craft.

    Haunted House and Fireworks

Scare yourself silly with the ghouls and gore at our annual haunted Youbou Hall. Or, cheer on the entrants in the costume contest downstairs. Young ones can try crafts at the YCA haunted pumpkin patch. Our volunteer firefighters wrap up the evening with a finale of frightful fireworks.

Wrap up your holiday shopping by stocking up on the creative wares at the annual craft sale. The YCA is serving a concession.
