Our little town of Youbou has it’s own version of the May Pole Dance!
This year the dance will be around the trees that call Mount Holmes their home.
“Back in the Day” dancers wove an intricate pattern around the May Pole creating a standing work of art for all to enjoy.
Here the final result of the dance around the trees is not so predictable. So talks are being planned and plans are being In the Very Merry Month of Holmes.

Both the “Save our Holmes” group and Timber west will ad-dress the public this month to clarify
their positions.
The YCA does not, as an association, offer any opinion on the situation. Our focus is to en-sure every Youbou resident be fully informed. Youbou deserves the best! Please do your part to make that happen.

Time Travel
According to the Ubo Bulletin 70 years ago (April, 1948) The Youbou Fire Brigade welcomed a brand new fire-truck on March 12. It was a 120-horse-power Dodge La France Triple Combination Pumper with an 80-gallon water tank and the capacity for 1,550 feet of hose. Members of the 24-man Youbou Volunteer Fire Bri-gade posed for a photo, several in suits and ties with fedora hats in their hands.
April 1948
The Youbou Branch of the Canadian Red Cross Society opened a Sick Room Supply Cupboard in the basement of the Community church, one of 200 hundred such supply units across the “Dominion” or country. A doctor or nurse had to sign a requisition form to allow access to items from the cupboard, but in their absence, committee members could administer supplies.
New Wood Walk Way
A new 2,000-foot wood sidewalk was built from the plant office to the sawmill. Built of cedar and fir, the 6-foot-wide walk had a hand-rail and was positioned alongside the rail-road track, but about 10 feet away from the rails for safety.
In Memorium
Friends and family of the Late Duncan Hume got together in Youbou, April 28th, to celebrate his life. Duncan was the immediate Past President of the YCA and wore his Kilt and Regalia with pride at our Robbie Burns day Haggis Supper. RIP Laddy!
